Maria Gravari Barbas

Maria Gravari-Barbas, Vice-Provost for International Relations in Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, France, with a degree in Architecture and Urban Design (University of Athens, 1985), is Director of EIREST, a multidisciplinary research team dedicated to tourism studies. Since 2009 she is the director of the UNESCO Chair of Paris 1- Sorbonne University and Coordinator of the UNITWIN network “Tourism, Culture, Development”. Invited professor in several universities, she is author or co-author of books and papers, including Tourism and Gentrification in Contemporary Metropolises (2017); World Heritage Sites and Tourism: Global and Local Relations (2016); Nouveaux territoires touristiques : invention, reconfigurations, repositionnements (2015);  World Heritage: Tourism and Identity (2015); and Nouveaux musées, nouvelles ères urbaines, nouvelles pratiques touristiques (2015).  gravari-barbas@wanadoo.fr
