João Albino Silva, with PhD in economics and aggregation in tourism economics. since 1998 he is Professor, Faculty of Economics, University of the Algarve, Portugal (1998- ), President of Scientific Committee of the Faculty of Economics (1999-2013; 2017- ), Department Head (2014-), President of the National Assessment Committee for Tourism University Programs (2010-2015), and Director of the PhD Program in Tourism (2007- ). His research areas include tourism planning, management and development, destinations quality, economics of tourism and environment. He has authored research-based books in tourism impact assessment, regional development, planning and sustainability in destinations and articles in national and International journals, also serving on editorial boards of serval journals. jsilva@ualg.pt
