Associate Professor of Equitable and Sustainable Tourism at North Carolina State University (USA), at the University of Johannesburg (South Africa), and the CEO of www.peoplefirsttourism.com. He is devoted to developing socio-entrepreneurial solutions for communities interested in becoming involved in tourism on their own terms. His scholarship examines how tourism microentrepreneurship may be used by host communities to break away from dependence and fuel endogenous development.  Further, he is the lead in(ve)stigator of People-First Tourism Lab, a glocal network of scholars using participatory action research to advance tourism micropentrepreneurship knowledge and success.
